Coping with Change

I would say the biggest change for me the past year has been moving out of my parents’ house, and moving in with my fiancé Patrick right after I had graduated. I had actually moved in with him and his parents first. Then we looked for a place together. It was a little difficult at first. Patrick is mainly the money maker, but I was working too. We were able to make enough money to move out by mid summer. I had also needed a car because I had been using my parents. But luckily I had enough in savings and graduation money to get me a car.

Change can be hard, depending on the situation. It can be a positive thing, or negative. Sometimes change is necessary to get the things that you want. Patrick and I had to work hard to get what we wanted to move out together.

College hasn’t been that scary for me. It is only different from high school where you have more freedom to slack off. I liked high school in the fact that I knew I HAD to do it, so that is what pushed me. College is a choice; no one is forcing me to be here. But I tell myself, in order to get what I want, I have to be here. When it comes to initiating change, I think it is up to me to make it happen. I think receiving help from others is a good thing, but ultimately, we are the only ones that can make the change if we truly want it.
